There are many things that can define who we are: our relationships, our jobs, our language, our socioeconomic status, our location, or many others. Today, we focus on our identity in Jesus. Who are we because of Jesus? We will find that ultimately, we are not defined by what we do but by what Jesus does for us. On the cross, Jesus died for the sins of the world. On the cross, Jesus comforted one of the criminals crucified with Him. On the cross, Jesus interceded even for those who crucified Him. On the cross, Jesus makes peace by His blood. Because of Jesus and His work and His ways, we are delivered and set free from sin and the assaults of Satan. You are a forgiven child of God! “For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross” (Colossians 1:19–20).
